World Association of Certified Safe Environments

Jr. CSE Inspector’s Club:  An intern instructor from local environmental organizations will be recruited and CSE inspector certified.  They will be able teach students about water, soil and air quality testing. Additionally they will then conduct testing activities in the community as well in their homes.  He/she will educate students about the ecology of streams and water sources, and the interconnectedness of the water supply and life on the planet.  Students will also conduct tests and participate in activities such as micro-invertebrate sampling and wildlife observation to assess the health of local rivers and streams.  CSE and the intern will train and certify students as well as interested or relevant staff in water and soil testing procedures.  Parent workshops would be available in English and Spanish in preparation for an educational field trip, i.e. a boat tour in local waterway or preservation lead by a local Environmental Center/watershed/organization.  Students will study history of bodies of water around the world and participate in learning activities about local water sources and how to keep them clean.  Students will learn about the diversity of life in and around water and the interdependency of water and all forms of life.  Selected students will then become “Junior Inspectors” and conduct observations, tests and assessments in the District’s schools and other agencies in the local community.  They will take samples, have them analyzed, and make recommendations for improvements.  The “Inspectors” will evaluate procedures in different aspects of school programming, and report their findings for informational purposes, making suggestions for improvements.  CSE and the “Junior Inspectors” will organize an “Environmental Awareness Day” and make presentations to students, parents and staff in the District’s schools about the importance of maintaining a safe environment, with the goal of helping everyone they come into contact with to engage in safe daily practices and to become better citizens of the world.
