World Association of Certified Safe Environments

“Mad CSE Scientists”:  This CSE curriculum offers the students the opportunity to the life cycles and evolution of bacteria, viruses and molds.  Students will participate in activities such as the swab test with Petri dish cultures and bread mold experiments to see how these organisms are all around us, and how they grow.  The instructor will be CSE certified to teach students about the dangers of certain bacteria, viruses and molds – from the most common illnesses to the rare and most serious ones.  Students will learn about “good” versus “bad” bacteria and molds.  The instructor will conduct awareness training around air testing and indoor air quality issues.  The instructor will also introduce students to governmental protective agencies such as OSHA, the CDC and EPA.  Science teachers in the program will be trained in the specifics of microorganism identification and hazard remediation.  Parent workshops will be available in English and Spanish, in order to educate adults and family members about microorganisms, illness transmission and prevention.  Additional topics in the curriculum include sports science and safety (the study and application of scientific principles, techniques and safe practices).  Students also become volcanologists as they study some of the world’s most famous volcanoes.  “Mad Scientists” supports the daytime curriculum by building on science learning as well as literacy, mathematics, environmental knowledge and scientific skills.

Pre-qualify your school for a CSE club grant…

All CSE clubs and representatives will help you organize an “Environmental Awareness Day” and make presentations to students, parents and staff in the District’s schools about the importance of maintaining a safe environment, with the goal of helping everyone they come into contact with to engage in safe daily practices and to become better citizens of the world.  It ultimately is a FUN FUND-RAISING DAY FOR EVERYONE.
